SPECTOR GROUP DESIGNS WORLDWIDE HEADQUARTERS
FOR MANFRA, TORDELLA & BROOKES, INC.
New York's International Gem Tower a Perfect Fit for
Prominent Precious Metals Company
NEW YORK, January __, 2014 – The Spector Group (www.spectorgroup.com), a leading metropolitan New York-based architecture and interior design firm, today announced that it has created a new world headquarters and sales center for Manfra, Tordella & Brookes, Inc. (MTB – www.mtbcoins.com), a premier precious metals wholesaler and retailer. MTB recently moved into its 17,000-square-foot location at the newly constructed International Gem Tower, 50 West 47th Street, in Manhattan's Diamond District.
"This location – at one of the city's newest, most prestigious towers and alongside other likeminded tenants – is ideal for MTB, so our challenge was to create a headquarters that was equally suited to its unique needs," says Marc Spector, AIA, NCARB and a principal at Spector Group. "The facility provides the highest possible levels of safety and security, yet is flexible enough to accommodate MTB's retail customers and international visitors and provide them with elegant, sophisticated surroundings."
The carefully choreographed design includes a main office area, which can be entered only after passing through glass enclosed security vestibules, as well as private client retail transaction rooms around the space's exterior, all offering views of the New York City skyline. MTB's headquarters features a combination of old world décor and high-tech trading. This design aesthetic is evident in the handcrafted walnut wood walls, ornamental glass offices and conference spaces, equipped with trading desks and large screen monitors, which flicker up-to-the-moment prices of precious metals from around the world. Additional spaces include a modern café, large storage rooms and a state-of-the-art IT room.
As MTB's design architect and architect of record, Spector was charged with overseeing: programming and design development; concept and schematic design; coordination of construction documents; bidding and negotiations; construction and administration; and furniture design and procurement. Spector worked with EXTELL, the building's management company, and JRM Construction, the project's general contractor, as well as the in-house team at MTB, to deliver the space on time and within budget.
